Witness and Rebirth: An Armenian Journey

April 2015 marks the 100th commemoration of one of the darkest chapters of the 20th century: the Armenian Genocide. The Fresno Philharmonic pays tribute to the resiliency of the Armenian people and their culture, featuring the world-premiere of Serouj Kradjian’s Cantata for Living Martyrs. Based on poetic texts of eyewitness testimonies, this powerful work traces a nation’s vibrant life interrupted by immense cruelty, the aftermath of the tragedy, and the denial of the crime to this day. In addition, world-renowned artists Catherine Manoukian and Isabel Bayrakdarian will join the ensemble to perform Khachatourian’s Violin Concerto and Dvorák’s Te Deum.
